Well, here we are!

We've finally moved to Cleveland. Lafe and his dad drove the moving truck and arrived here on Thursday. I flew in with Stetson and my mother-in-law on Friday night. By the time I got here, everything was already moved in! My wonderful husband and father-in-law were exhausted, to say the least, but I still made them go with me at midnight to pick up my pre-ordered copy of Harry Potter.

Lafe, his dad and our friend Clayton hauled everything up a narrow flight of stairs. Unfortunately, my armoire and bookcase did not fit. But with some creativity, the box springs for the bed and our couch did!

We are missing our friends and family back home so much.
However, there are things that we already love about Cleveland...

...the weather!! It's 70 degrees outside, overcast and breezy.
Here's a picture at the lake. It was so relaxing to just sit and watch the water.

...living close to church history sites. We're only 20 minutes from Kirtland, so we visited the temple and the Whitney store area while Lafe's parents were here.

...Target, yes, Target. There is a two-story Target here with an escalator and a cart-carrier. It's amazing. You should come visit us just so you can see it. Two floors of Target goodness!!

...all of the trees -- there are entire streets covered in trees here.

Movin' Right Along

Stetson is so excited!

The house is packed, the truck is loaded, and we are just days away
from completing our cross-country move to Cleveland.
We will miss all that we are leaving behind in Mesa,
but we are looking forward to the adventures that lie ahead.
A big thanks to everyone who helped us load the truck!

This picture is actually from the 4th of July. It was so cute; we had to share it!

The times they are a-changin'

What an exciting, yet bittersweet time! We've been packing all week, so there are boxes all over our house. We got a little caught up in the frenzy before we realized we had packed every single pot and pan. So don't be surprised if we come over to your house to cook our dinner. I know our family is going to have a great adventure in Ohio, but I'm sad to be leaving everything here. I'm such an Arizona baby!

This week marked my last time teaching dance in Mesa for awhile. I've been teaching at the Mesa Arts Center for 2 years and at Danceworks for 7. I love all of my girls and will miss being known as "Miss Lacy." Anyone know of a great dance studio in Cleveland?

Finally, Stetson is growing up so fast. What happened to my tiny baby? (Okay, he was never really tiny, but he was smaller than this, right?) I just can't believe how fast time flies! When Stetson was born, he loved to be swaddled. He could only fall asleep if you wrapped him up so tight that he couldn't move. But he's grown out of the swaddling. Here are some pictures of the progression:

Here's Stetson at about one week old...

It became increasingly difficult to find blankets big enough to swaddle him when he hit 17 lbs. and was so strong!

This is two weeks ago as he transitioned out of swaddling...

And this is yesterday -- stretched out with his softie. Check out those thighs!!

Slide Show

We had wanted to post pictures from right after Stetson was born, and we finally got around to it. Thanks to all our family and friends for being a great support to us during this exciting time in our lives!

Stetson's New Toy!

Stetson loves his new Baby Einstein activity center! A big thanks to Grammy Chaffee for spoiling him. He turns around and around to see all the toys. My favorite part is that he bounces and smiles when the classical music starts to play -- due to me teaching ballet classes the entire pregnancy, perhaps?

Speaking of moving...

Does anyone have advice for us about moving? This will be our first real move, and we'd love any advice you can offer. Is there something that worked really well for you? Something you wish you'd done differently? We look forward to your suggestions!

Our Cleveland House

Now that it's official, we thought we'd post a picture of where we'll be living in Cleveland. It is a multi-family home that's just a short walk from school. We'll be living above another dental student family. Our place has three bedrooms, one bathroom, an office, dining room, family room and kitchen. We're excited that there is also a grassy backyard for Stetson to play in and Lafe to mow. We'll be moving around July 18, so come play with us before we leave! And plan on coming out to visit us -- we're only 20 minutes away from Kirtland.

This also means that our current house in Mesa is for sale. It's a perfect house for a newly-wed couple or a couple with a new baby. It has two bedrooms, one bathroom, new tile in the kitchen and bathroom (thanks Lee!), new A/C unit, new paint inside and out. We've loved living here. The house is on a cul-de-sac with lots of families and young kids, and our ward is awesome! If you know someone who would be interested, we'd love to have them come check it out.
